A Decade of Academy Award Winners: 1945
"The Lost Weekend"
Join us this winter on Sunday nights as watch and discuss each year`s Best Picture of arguably the most tumultuous decade in history. As the world moves from war to peace to cold war, how do the year`s top films reflect this time period? We`ll discuss this along with the actors, directors and other points of interest as we watch what the industry voted it`s best.
This Billy Wilder directed film of an alcohol-induced lost weekend was the second of his seven Best Director nominations and first of two wins. (The Apartment was the other.) Watch Ray Miland and Ronald Reagan`s ex-wife, Jane Wyman, as he travels down the slippery slope of alcoholism. The film has been noted for its startling frankness (IMBD).
The location is the Unity Center of Spiritual Living in the University area.
Bring a drink, and a snack to share. I got the popcorn. (You may bring adult beverages.)
